Our Story

scroll
From spreadsheets to soulmates

They say you should never mix business with pleasure, but our story proves them all wrong! It all started in the most romantic of settings: the office. Robert was the new guy, and Andriana was given the task of showing him the ropes. What Andriana didn't realise was that she was also signing up to be Robert's personal tour guide to all things Milton Keynes and Bedford, and most importantly, his future wife!

Their friendship blossomed over a shared love for exploring new breakfast spots and a surprising number of supermarket lunch trips that were made infinitely more bearable by having a friendly face to chat with. The coffee machine became their daily confessional and a chance to escape from the spreadsheets.

From weekend brunches to competitive board game marathons, their "work friendship" slowly but surely turned into something a lot more special. Who knew that it would lead to a lifetime of love, laughter, and a very serious debate over who gets to pick the next café?

A Few Tidbits

Getting to know us a little better
How did you first meet?
At work.
Who made the first move? How?
Robert made the first move when he walked me to my car one evening after work and shyly asked if we could go out to dinner together sometime.
What was your most memorable date?
For Andriana's birthday Robert booked a sleep over at the lion's enclosure in London Zoo where we got a private tour after dark and got to watch the Lions wake up with a fresh cup of coffee.
What's your favourite activity together?
We love playing video or board games together and in winter love settling in to a new farm on Stardew Valley.
What's the most memorable trip you've taken together?
Travelling around Scotland in a campervan exploring the countryside and culture. We got to island hop, go canyoning down the Falls of Bruar and Robert then proposed at the end of the trip!
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
We are undecided yet so happy for suggestions!

Staying on in Scotland

We won't be going on a honeymoon and instead are going to stay in the highlands until the end of the weekend with anyone who wants to join us — everyone is welcome! We will organise exploring, activities such as brewery tours and will look to organise accommodation so we're together. Closer to the time we'll publish an 'after the wedding' page with more details.

✈️ Flying

If you are flying, we recommend arriving in Glasgow.

We're looking into arranging a coach service from Glasgow city centre and Glasgow Airport to the venue to help with travel for our guests. If you are interested in using this service, please get in touch with Andriana or Robert so we can gauge numbers and provide you with more details.

Glasgow airport is 1 hour 45 minutes from the venue.

🚌 Coach Transfers

Coaches depart at 1:00 PM on Tuesday 16 June from two pick-up points:

  • Glasgow Airport (GLA)
  • Johnstone High School (PA5 0JN)

Journey time is approximately 2 hours with a 15-minute comfort stop in Callander.

🚗 Driving

The venue is relatively remote. Please be aware that means driving on single track, old military and forestry roads. Please do research beforehand and be confident in you and your car's ability. The road coming directly into the venue is an old farm road with potholes.

Don't let this put you off driving though — this can be a beautiful part of the wedding with winding twists and epic views. If you have any concerns please contact Andriana or Robert and we can talk you through it.

Free parking is available on-site.

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q&A first! Boreland also has an extensive Q&A page — view Boreland FAQs ↗.

Please check your invite for your +1!
As much as we love your little ones, we would like our special day to be an adult-only occasion (18+).
Think summer wedding! Formal attire and bright colours! Ladies do not wear stiletto heels. There are areas of grass/dirt/gravel that you might have to walk in so wear chunky heels or sandals.
The wedding ceremony will be outside weather permitting, otherwise indoors. Our reception will be inside.
Boreland have the biggest and best gigabit Wi-Fi in each property! The password is Boreland. There is also good phone signal considering the location!
We know everyone will be travelling to the venue at different times so we are putting on a relaxed BBQ so you will have food when you get there. It'll be a nice opportunity to get to know everyone the night before so you've made friends before you even step on the dance floor and can make the most of the party!
We have hired a professional photographer — please put your phones away during the ceremony and enjoy the moment. You are welcome to take photos throughout the rest of the day.
In Scotland, we have all four seasons in one day, sometimes even in one hour! You could be basking in glorious sunshine, and then before you've even had time to grab your sunglasses, the heavens open and you're drooked!

"There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes" — Billy Connolly
The bar is cashless and will accept all major cards.
Your presence and dancing is all the gifts that we need. We are aware that the wedding is remote and everyone will be travelling which will cost money.
We will provide breakfast items in each lodge.
Food is a big part of our lives, so we hope to put on a good spread from wedding breakfast to evening food. We will share the options nearer to the time once finalised.
Please see our Travel page. There is free parking on-site.
